Several years ago, mason jars were pretty much strictly used for canning. Now, thanks to social media, they’re trending as the perfect portable, single-serve meal container. Whether you’re looking for a quick breakfast or something Pinterest-worthy, BOB has a few favorite mason jar recipes to share.
Mason Jar Overnight Berry Oatmeal
Starting your day off right is easy when you prep the night before. This healthy, filling breakfast is my go-to when mornings get busy.
Ingredients:
Glass mason jar with lid
¼ cup uncooked rolled oats
½ cup skim or almond milk
¼ cup fresh blueberries
¼ cup strawberries or raspberries
1 container plain or flavored Greek yogurt
¼ tsp cinnamon
Directions:
Mix all ingredients except cinnamon and pour into the jar. Top with cinnamon, cover, and refrigerate overnight to enjoy the next morning.
Mason Jar Chopped Salad
Perfect for lunch meal prep! Make a few at once and store them for quick grab-and-go meals during the week.
Ingredients:
Glass mason jar with lid
3 cups chopped romaine
2 diced plum tomatoes
6 tbsp crumbled feta
6 baby bell peppers
2 sliced hard-boiled eggs
1 cup cooked chicken
Salad dressing of choice
Directions:
Layer dressing first, followed by dense ingredients like chicken and eggs, then lighter ones like lettuce. Cover, refrigerate, shake before eating, and enjoy.
Mason Jar Burritos
This burrito bowl in a jar is a fun, customizable lunch or dinner idea. Mix and match toppings to fit your taste!
Ingredients:
Glass mason jar with lid
½ cup dressing, sour cream, or salsa
1 cup each black beans and corn
2 cups cooked rice or quinoa
2 cups grilled chicken or beef
1 cup each diced tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, spinach
Mozzarella cheese, chopped cilantro, lime juice
Directions:
Layer ingredients starting with dressing, followed by beans, corn, rice, and remaining ingredients. Sprinkle cilantro and squeeze lime juice over rice. Cover, chill, shake, and enjoy!
Mason Jar Carrot Cake Overnight Oatmeal
Sweet, simple, and satisfying — this carrot cake overnight oats recipe is dessert and breakfast all in one.
Ingredients:
Glass mason jar with lid
¼ cup uncooked oats
1 small shredded carrot
1 small shredded pear
½ cup plain Greek yogurt
¼ tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp pecans or raisins
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in the jar and stir. Add toppings like pecans or raisins, cover, and refrigerate overnight. Enjoy the next day!
